Nitin Gadkari, the minister of state for transport, announced that soon ethanol-only automobiles will be introduced in the nation.
Attempts to decrease the import of petrol diesel
On Sunday, Gadkari stated during a programme in Nagpur that the import of petrol and diesel supplies 80% of India’s transportation industry’s energy needs. The government must spend more than Rs. 16 lakh crore on this each year. The government intends to promote ethanol-powered automobiles to help lower this.

According to Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister, the Toyota Camry will be on sale in August. 100% ethanol fuel will be used to power this vehicle. Additionally, this automobile will produce 40% of its own electricity. He claimed that as a result of government incentives, the automotive industry will soon introduce cars that only use ethanol fuel. The Hero Scooters, TVS, and Bajaj firms (Hero Scooters, TVS, and Bajaj) are also introducing their ethanol-powered scooters.
“India needs to be carbon-free.”
According to him, India has the potential to become a global leader in the production of biofuels. Decarbonization of the Indian transport sector is urgently required. Gadkari claimed that international businesses operating in India are also adapting their strategies in accordance with the government’s priorities. In reference to their recent meeting, he stated that Mercedes will also only produce electric automobiles going forward.

Experts in the car industry claim that commodities like maize and sugarcane are used to make ethanol. Comparable to gasoline-diesel in price and pollution-free. Compared to petrol-diesel, which costs more than Rs 100 per litre, ethanol fuel for automobiles costs between Rs 60 and Rs 65 per litre. By using ethanol to drive in this situation, consumers will save the nation money on foreign exchange while also receiving a benefit of Rs 35 per litre.
