The cold outbreak is causing chaos throughout North India, including Delhi. Today, in the midst of heavy fog and bitter cold, Delhi had its coldest day of the year. Delhi experienced a 2.2-degree dip in temperature.
The Meteorological Department reports that on Thursday morning, Lodhi Road in Delhi registered a temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius. In Safdarjung, the temperature at the time was 3 degrees Celsius. In Delhi’s Ayanagar, the lowest temperature ever measured was 2.2 degrees Celsius.
While in Ujwa, it was 2.3 degrees Celsius. As a result of the thick fog, Delhi’s temperatures were lower than those in Manali, Dharamshala, Dehradun, Shimla, and Nainital. An orange notice for Delhi’s winter weather has been issued by the meteorological department.
In some areas
the intense fog caused visibility to drop to only 100 meters, which had an impact on air, rail, and road transport. Numerous trains from and to Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Hyderabad, and Jammu & Kashmir were running late due to the heavy fog. The timing of two trains has been altered at the same time. These details have been provided by Northern Railway. The list of these delayed trains has been made public by Northern Railway’s CPRO.
Alert at the airport in Delhi
IGI Airport has also issued an alert at the airport due to the dense fog in addition to the Meteorological Department’s alert for Delhi. The data indicated that many planes arrived after their scheduled times on Tuesday. But during this time, a few flights were also diverted.
Why did winter increase?
The spread of winter has accelerated on the plains as a result of the chilly winds coming from the ice Himalayas. While Dharamshala, Shimla, Nainital, and Delhi all had lower minimum temperatures than 7 degrees, Dharamshala’s minimum temperature was 3, 5 in Nainital, and less than 7 in Shimla. Delhi is still experiencing a cold wave, and the high is also low.
How will it be this week’s weather?
The Meteorological Department predicts that Delhi residents would experience comparable cold for the next three days. Around three degrees is predicted for the minimum temperature. However, the cold wave outbreak will end after that, and a temperature increase is possible. The Meteorological Department predicts that Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar would experience such a severe cold spell. The prospect of experiencing some reprieve from the cold after January 8 exists.
In Churu, Rajasthan
the minimum temperature has dropped to negative. In Punjab and Haryana, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. Orange Alert has also been issued for Delhi-NCR for the following 24 hours.
