Sub-4m SUV Sales: August 2025 sales numbers for the Hyundai Venue, Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Punch have been made public. Let’s examine which SUVs experienced a rise in demand and which suffered a decline in sales.
In India, consumers continue to favor sub-4m SUVs, or compact SUVs. These cars are popularly bought because they are reasonably priced, have decent features, and get great mileage. From the Hyundai Venue to the Tata Nexon, this sector features a number of well-known automobiles. But according to data from August 2025, sales of some cars in this market have gone up, while sales of others have significantly decreased. Let’s examine the sales numbers.
Tata Nexon is still at the top.
In August 2025, the Tata Nexon was the top-selling SUV in its class. Last month, 14,004 consumers bought it, a 14% increase from August 2024. The base ex-showroom pricing of the Nexon is ₹799,990. It has a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and ADAS safety systems. Six airbags are included as standard. The CNG version is noteworthy for having a fuel economy of up to 24 km/kg.
The Maruti Brezza finished second.
With 13,620 purchases in August 2025, the Maruti Brezza ranked second in terms of sales. This figure, however, dropped by 29% this year to 19,190 units in August 2024.
Maruti Fronx came in third.
In August 2025, 12,422 Maruti Fronx coupe-style vehicles were purchased by customers. Sales increased slightly to 12,387 units in August 2024.
Tata Punch and Punch EV’s current status
The Tata Punch and Punch EV saw a sharp drop in sales last month. In August 2025, 10,704 units were sold overall, while in August 2024, 15,643 units were sold. This amounts to a 31% decrease.
Hyundai Venue: Still in the top five
Despite a drop in sales, the Hyundai Venue was still among the top 5. Compared to 9,085 units in August 2024, 8,109 buyers bought it in August 2025. This is a ten percent decrease.

According to August 2025 SUV sales figures, there were 7,741 Kia Sonets, 5,521 Mahindra XUV 3XOs, 5,061 Hyundai Exter units, 3,099 Skoda Kylaq units, 2,683 Toyota Taisor units, 1,384 Nissan Magnite units, 910 Renault Kiger units, 603 Maruti Jimny units, and 308 Kia Syros units sold.
