UP Budget Session 2023 Live Updates: Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the UP Assembly on Wednesday. During this, he told that the contribution of Uttar Pradesh in the country’s GDP is more than 8 percent. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented a budget of Rs 6 lakh 90 thousand 242 crore for the year 2023-24. In the second general budget of Yogi Sarkar-2 of Uttar Pradesh, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna made several announcements for farmers, youth and women. Apart from this, he focused on education, youth, employment, expressway expansion, airport, agriculture and infrastructure.
Finance Minister started the budget speech with poetry
Uttar Pradesh’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna started the budget speech in the assembly in a poetic manner. He said, ‘Yogi ji’s budget has been prepared for the prosperity of UP. This will make the coming Holi colorful. He further said, ‘Law and order improved, industries shone, UP became a growth engine, understood all this for the first time, but sitting on the shore, don’t question the waves and drown yourself in deep water, understand the philosophy. Of water…!! ,
Record payment to sugarcane farmers
During the budget speech, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna told, ‘About 46 lakh 22 thousand sugarcane farmers of Uttar Pradesh have been paid a record sugarcane price of more than Rs 1,96,000 crore since the year 2017, which is the highest in the year 2012. . The total cane price payment made during the period from 2017 to 2017 is up from Rs 95,125 crore to Rs 86,728 crore. Along with this, he told that one lakh farmers have been benefitted by removing the ban on providing private tube well connections to the farmers in the dark zone of the state.
Announcement for destitute widows
The Finance Minister said that keeping in view the law and order situation in the state, 03 women PAC battalions are being formed to ensure maximum participation of women. He further said, ‘At present, 32 lakh 62 thousand destitute women are being given pension under the maintenance grant scheme for destitute widows. For this, a budget provision of Rs 4032 crore is proposed in the budget for the year 2023-2024.
Medical colleges will open in every district of UP
Uttar Pradesh’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced spending of Rs 12 thousand 650 crores for the health system in the budget speech. During the budget, he also announced the opening of medical colleges in every district of UP. The Finance Minister said that an arrangement of Rs 2491 crore 39 lakh has been made for the establishment and operation of 14 new medical colleges. A total of 8528 MBBS seats have become available in government and private sector medical colleges/medical universities located in the state. The Finance Minister further informed that in 2022, Nursing/Paramedical courses have been started in about 300 institutions. The number of government paramedical colleges in the state increased from 17 to 19, while the number of private sector schools increased from 287 to 351.
Big announcement for road infrastructure
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna made several announcements for expressway expansion and road projects during the budget speech. He told, ‘The construction work of about 594 kilometers long Ganga Expressway being built from Meerut to Prayagraj is in progress, whose budget is about Rs 36230 crore. A provision of Rs 235 crore is proposed in the budget for the initial phase of new projects of Jhansi Link Expressway and Chitrakoot Link Expressway. An arrangement of Rs 550 crore is proposed for the Defense Corridor project along the Bundelkhand Expressway. A provision of Rs 200 crore is proposed to develop an industrial corridor in Gorakhpur on both sides of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway.
He further said, ‘60.397 km long roads of the state were made pothole free and 14,144 km long roads were renovated. Development of international/interstate roads with the objective of promoting tourism and providing traffic facilities to the general public, in which order the construction work of 75 roads out of 87 roads of 1024 km length has been completed. In the financial year 2022-2023, 60.397 kilometer-long roads of the state were made pothole free.
