Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Crash Test for Africa: Global NCAP decided to test the S-Presso again after there were reports that its South Africa-spec model is safer than the model sold in India.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Crash Test Video: Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki S-Presso was recently crash-tested by Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) under the ‘Safe Car for Africa Programme’. In crash tests, this small car has been given a three-star safety rating for adult occupant protection and a two-star rating for child occupant protection. Notably, the model that has been tested is the same updated version of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso that has been sold in the Indian market.
Safety watchdog Global NCAP conducted a crash test of the S-Presso in November 2020 and the model got a zero star rating. It had a driver-side airbag, while the updated version gets dual airbags as standard safety fitment. Global NCAP decided to test the S-Presso again as there were reports that its South Africa-spec model is safer than the model sold in India.
The recently tested Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes standard with double airbags and seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters. It provides good protection to the head and neck of the driver and the passenger. However, its driver’s and passenger’s chest protection are rated as weak and decent, respectively. Along with this, it gets light protection on the knees of the driver and also good protection for the knees of the passenger.

The Maruti Brezza SUV would reportedly have a hybrid powertrain and be available in a total of 10 models in 2022. There will be 7 manual transmission variants and 3 automatic transmission variants out of the total 10 variants of the Brezza. Manual variant options will be – LXI, LXI (O), VXI, VXI (O), ZXI, ZXI (O), and ZXI+ while automatic transmission options will be – VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+.
