VinFast, a well-known electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam, has formally revealed its intentions to start in India. The company’s first two vehicles to be introduced in India will be the VinFast VF7 and VF6.
VinFast, a well-known electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam, is now planning to enter India. At the January 2025 India Mobility Global Expo, the business displayed its whole lineup of automobiles. The business has now formally revealed its Indian launch strategy. The company’s first two vehicles to be introduced in India will be the VinFast VF7 and VF6. They will begin booking in June 2025.
A plant will be established in Tamil Nadu, and 50,000 automobiles would be produced annually.
Vinfast is ready to travel to India. In the upcoming weeks, the business will begin construction of its production facility in Tamil Nadu. At first, this plant will produce roughly 50,000 cars annually. VF7 and VF6 will be put together here for India.
VinFast VF7: An upscale electric vehicle
Compared to other EVs, the VF7 will be a somewhat larger and more opulent mid-size premium electric SUV. It shares a similar design with previous VinFast versions. It has a broad bumper with silver trim, two-part LED headlights, and V-shaped LED DRLs. This 4.5-meter-long car will have a coupe-like roofline and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Regarding power, there will be two iterations:
- VF7 Plus (single motor): 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque
- VF7 Plus AWD (Dual Motor): 343 bhp and 500 Nm torque
Each will feature a 75.3 kWh battery with a 450 km (WLTP) range. In terms of amenities, it boasts contemporary technologies like as level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and leatherette seats.
From the interior, VF6 and VF7 are similar: they have high-tech features and a simple style.
The inside design of the two vehicles is nearly identical. They will receive a panoramic sunroof, a big 12.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and level 2 ADAS. These have a head-up display (HUD) in place of a conventional instrument cluster. Because the majority of the car’s controls are located on the touchscreen, the interior design appears sleek and contemporary.
In India, the next stage is to launch the plan while keeping the holiday season in mind.
By the end of this year, both the VF7 and VF6 will be introduced in India. The VF6 will be available for purchase by September, while the VF7 is anticipated to debut in July or August. Additionally, the business will shortly activate its dealer network.
Significant investment in India, with additional models in the horizon
About $2 billion (about Rs 16,500 crore) has been invested in India by VinFast. This investment covers future models as well as the establishment of the dealership network in addition to the facility. India is viewed by the company as a robust EV market. and intends to be here for the long haul.
