January has finally here. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the nation’s central bank, has announced a new list of holidays in conjunction with the start of a new year. This covers the entire list of January bank holidays. The updated list states that banks will be closed for 13 days in January. Weekly (Saturday–Sunday) holidays are also included in this. Nevertheless, each state has its own set of bank holidays.

January 2 – Losong/Namsung (Aizawl, Gangtok)
January 5 – Sunday
6 January – Birthday of Shri Guru Gobind Singh (Chandigarh)
January 11 – Missionary Day/Imoinu Iratpa (Aizawl, Imphal), second Saturday
January 12 – Sunday
14 January – Makar Sankranti/ Uttarayan Punyakaal/ Pongal/ Maghe Sankranti/ Magh Bihu/ Birthday of Hazrat Ali (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur, Lucknow)
January 15 – Thiruvalluvar Day (Chennai)
January 16 – Uzhavar Thirunal (Chennai)
January 19 – Sunday
23 January – Birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose/ Veer Surendrasai Jayanti (Bhubaneswar, Kolkata)
January 25 – Fourth Saturday
January 26 – Sunday
