In Mumbai, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has lowered the cost of CNG by Rs 2.50 per kilogram. MGL made the statement regarding the cut late on Tuesday evening. The revised rate will take effect at midnight on March 5. Following the reduction, the prices in Mumbai and the neighboring areas were Rs 73.50 per kilogram. Following the price cut, drivers will profit.
How much will it save in comparison to petrol?
With the revised prices announced, the cost of CNG in Mumbai will save up to 53% when compared to petrol and 22% when compared to diesel at the existing rate. Automobile owners will save 22% in comparison to diesel. Following the price reduction, MGL said that reducing the price of CNG will help in increasing the consumption of natural gas in the transport sector. It will also help in providing environmental friendliness to the customers.
Why did the reduction take place?
The firm informed us that tariffs will be lowered starting at midnight on March 5th, after a decrease in the cost of producing gas. IGL recently raised the cost of CNG in Delhi-NCR. IGL had at the time linked the price hike to the growing cost of natural gas.
Rate in Delhi-NCR
The cost of a kilogram of CNG in Delhi is Rs 76.59. Adjacent to the capital, in Ghaziabad and Noida, CNG is available at Rs 81.20 per kg. In terms of pricing, CNG in Meerut is available for Rs 81.58 per kilogram.
