Cyclone Mandous: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that several areas of South India may be affected due to the threat posed by Cyclone Mandous.
At midnight today, Cyclone Mandous may pass over the coast near Chennai. The Mandus cyclone is headed for Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
IMD has issued a red alert in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Kanchipuram due to the cyclone threat.
The Tamil Nadu government has sent 12 teams of the NDRF and State Security Force to 10 districts in response to the Meteorological Department (MID) advisory.
All schools and institutions in the districts of Chettai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Kancheepuram will be closed today. By midnight, Cyclone Mandus is forecast to pass over the Andhra Pradesh coast near Harikota.
A Rainy weather warning issued
There may be severe rains in Tamil Nadu on December 8. According to a warning from the Indian Meteorological Department. Puducherry, Karaikal, Nagapattinam, and Pudukkottai are some examples.
However, there is a chance of mild to moderate rain in the Tamil Nadu districts of Namakkal, Thiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, and Tenkasi.
The Meteorological Department predicts that Cyclone Mandus, which developed in the southwest of the Bay of Bengal, will develop into a powerful cyclonic storm with winds of 105 km/h.
Winds can blow at a speed of 105 km/h as a result of its impact.
Before making landfall on the Tamil Nadu coast around Mahabalipuram at around midnight on Friday, it will gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm.
