Diwali bonus of Indian Railways employees to increase by Rs 28200!

Indian Railways

This information will be helpful to you if you or any family members are employed by the railroads. Indeed, a group of railroad workers has asked Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to use the Seventh Pay Commission’s methodology for calculating bonuses (PLB) rather than the Sixth Pay Commission’s. The Indian Railways Employees Federation (IREF) National General Secretary, Sarvjeet Singh, stated that the Sixth Pay Commission’s basic wage of Rs 7,000 per month serves as the basis for the current bonus. However, the minimum wage set by the Seventh Pay Commission is Rs 18,000 per year. This is being provided to railway personnel as of January 1, 2016.

The railways’ revenue rose as a result of the workers’ dedication.

He mentioned that calculating PLB based on a minimum salary of Rs 7,000 is an injustice to the employees. Many IREF members said that during the nationwide lockdown in the Covid pandemic, when people were not coming out of their homes, at that time the railway employees ensured the movement of trains. It is clear from the quarterly report that after this there has been a tremendous increase in the income of the railways.

A 78-day bonus is given to railway workers.

According to government directives, railway workers should get a PLB bonus equivalent to 78 days’ basic pay, the IREF emphasized. However, the current payment, based on Rs 7,000, is only Rs 17,951. According to Singh, the minimum base salary for railway workers is Rs 18,000 as per the 7th Pay Commission. A bonus of Rs 17,951 for 78 days is therefore extremely little. This is concerning given the rising cost of living. He stated that the incentive for 78 days is Rs 46,159 based on the baseline wage of Rs 18,000.

In what way would the Rs 28,200 gain exist?

All employees will profit if the government agrees to provide 78-day bonuses by the 7th Pay Commission of at least (46,159-17,951) = Rs 28,208. In a request made by the Railway Employees Union through a letter, it was said that the Indian Railway Employees Federation requests you to calculate the productivity-linked bonus for all railway employees according to the salary of the 7th Pay Commission. This will enable the upcoming festival to be celebrated happily and they will be able to continue their important contribution in operating and maintaining the railways.
