On social media, a piece of knowledge on when to refuel with petrol and diesel is spreading like wildfire. This states that filling up with fuel or diesel in the morning or at night provides the car good mileage. It is alleged that low temperatures in the morning and at night cause the density of fuel to increase, giving you more petrol or diesel. Its density reduces as a result of the high daytime temperatures, and there isn’t enough petrol to go around. This causes crowds to gather at the petrol station early in the morning and late at night.
However, this rumour is entirely false
You can fill up your automobile with petrol or diesel at any moment, and the government-mandated density will be provided. If there is a difference in density, time has no bearing because you are being defrauded at the petrol station. On the pump, there are devices that measure the density according to governmental standards; however, these devices do not take temperature into account. Whether you get it filled in the morning or the evening, the density is the same.
The government’s recommended densities for petrol and diesel are
730 to 800 kg and 830 to 900 kg, respectively, per cubic metre. This density of diesel fuel is regarded as being fully pure, and temperature has no bearing on it. Therefore, you do not need to be concerned that there would be less mileage owing to a density difference. Therefore, you don’t need to worry if your car runs out of gas or diesel because you can easily get it filled.
