Government changes rules to buy new sim cards making it hard to buy new cards

new sim cards

Purchase guidelines for mobile SIM cards have been modified by the government. A new regulation has been implemented for the people of India. It is now required to complete e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) verification to obtain new sim cards. No one will be able to receive new sim cards without e-KYC authentication.

Why was this regulation put into place?

The electronic verification of a person’s address and identification is known as e-KYC. No SIM card will be accessible if e-KYC verification is not completed. This essential action has been taken by the government to stop SIM card abuse and cybercrime. This will stop anyone from purchasing SIM cards under pretenses and abusing that number.

The purchase of SIM cards has become simpler for visitors

The purpose of the new regulation is to facilitate the purchase of SIM cards in India by foreign nationals. In the past, purchasing an Airtel, Jio, or Vi SIM card required an OTP from a local number for foreigners. They can now get their OTP via email by the new regulation. This implies that individuals can now acquire a SIM card using their email address instead of a local number.

The BSNL 5G trial is active.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, a minister in the Modi cabinet, asserted that BSNL’s customer base is expanding quickly. The effort to upgrade the 4G network to 5G has begun, and the network itself is now ready. He declared that a 4G network using homegrown technology was being prepared under Aatmanirbhar Bharat. In a few months, it will be accessible throughout the nation.
