The Ninja 400 sports bike from Kawasaki has been withdrawn from the Indian market. Only a few months after discontinuing the Ninja 400, the business recently introduced the all-new Ninja 500 to the nation. The Ninja 400 serves as a major foundation for the new Ninja 500. Its sole purpose was to take the place of the Ninja 400.

For Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom),

the Ninja 400 was originally introduced as a fully imported (CBU) model in India in 2018. However, in April 2020, sales were temporarily halted due to the introduction of BS6 emission standards. Although it was relaunched in 2022, Kawasaki’s India website no longer lists this entry-level sports bike.

The Ninja 500 was introduced by Kawasaki in February of this year,

and the two bikes were offered for sale simultaneously until the Ninja 400’s supply ran out. The Ninja 400 has been discounted by Rs 40,000 over the past few months, making it available for Rs 4,84,000 (ex-showroom). In Kawasaki’s sports bike lineup, the Ninja 400 filled the void between the Ninja 300 and Ninja 650. A 399cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled DOHC 8-valve engine produced 37 Nm and 44.8 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, respectively, powering the Ninja 400. A 6-speed slipper clutch gearbox was attached to this unit.

In contrast,

the Ninja 500 sports a parallel-twin, 451cc liquid-cooled engine. Peak torque of 42.6Nm and 45bhp are produced at 9,000 rpm. Like the Ninja 400, the Ninja 500 faces competition from bikes like the Yamaha R3, Aprilia RS 457, and KTM RC 390.
