7th Pay Commission: Employees of the Central Government should address their reimbursement requests for the Children’s Education Allowance under the 7th Pay Commission. and the Hostel Subsidy to their respective departments rather than the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Some employees of the Central Government are submitting their DoPT reimbursement requests for CEA directly. All employees are required by the Department of Personnel to submit such claims to the office or department where they are now employed, or where they most recently worked in the event that the employee is deceased.
7th Pay Commission
According to a memo from the DoPT dated August 25, 2023, “It has been observed that some Government employees are submitting their claims for Children Education Allowance to their respective offices/departments instead of submitting them to this Department for reimbursement.” In each case, the claim for the Children’s Education Allowance and the Hostel Subsidy must be submitted to the office or department where the person is working or recently worked.
Child Education Allowance
Government employees in Ministries/Departments where e-HRMS is in use are only permitted to submit CEA claims through e-HRMS, according to DoPT. It further asked that e-HRMS be implemented as soon as possible in Ministries and Departments where it is not currently in use. For All India Services (AIS) members who qualify, the DoPT announced new childcare leave regulations earlier this month.
According to the Dearness Allowance Revised Rules,
eligible AIS members may take up to two years of paid leave during their whole service to care for their two eldest children. The central government workers are currently anticipating the announcement of the updated dearness allowance (DA) rate, which will take effect on July 1, 2023.
