Various state administrations are launching new facilities for ration card holders. Ayushman cards were made necessary for Antyodaya card holders by the previous Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh. The Tamil Nadu government is now making plans to upgrade the ration shops in the state. Fair Price Shops are anticipated to receive a license from the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Service to sell LPG Gas cylinders inside the state.
Tamil Nadu has 35,000 ration stores.
Currently, 5 kg and 10 kg Free Trade Licence (FTL) LPG gas cylinders are sold by state-run Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) through Tamil Nadu Urban Cooperative Societies (TUCS), including those OMCs’ own shops. In Tamil Nadu, there are 35,000 fair-pricing stores that are distributed throughout the state, including in rural areas.
According to J. Radhakrishnan, secretary of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Department, more LPG cylinders could be offered in the state.
This suggestion is currently being discussed with representatives of oil marketing businesses. He claimed that additional LPG cylinders may be sold around the state if this proposition was successful. He claimed that current oil company customers might get cylinders from merchants in outlying regions of the state for reasonable prices.
According to the Civil Supplies Secretary, the agency put a lot of effort into obtaining ISO certification for 5000 fair price stores.
aiming to ISO-certify an increasing number of outlets. The fair price stores now have new paint and amenities for both customers and employees, including bathrooms and running water. The staff is also receiving soft skill training.
