In fact, the distance between them is so great that all the galaxies are shown on the map as landing points. This map has shown that our universe i.e. space is rapidly expanding all around. Now it will be easier for scientists to discover new planets, supernovae, black holes, alien worlds, and life.
The universe is believed to be 13.8 billion years old. That is, 1380 crore years old. But the Methuselah star is even older. Therefore it is difficult to ascertain the exact age and size of the universe. Scientists take the Hubble constant as a unit for measuring the length and width of space. That is about 75 kilometers per second for every megaparsec. Simply put, 32.6 million light years. But there are other methods of measurement as well, so it’s a bit difficult to estimate the exact size of the space.
The new map of 56 thousand galaxies is named CosmicFlow-4. This map confirms the formula for the speed of 75 kilometers per second. Scientists use eight methods to measure distances in space. Two of which are new. The remaining six are made from old studies. When these methods are compared, scientists are able to produce a more accurate map. That is, a new map is made by combining the formulas of all the methods.
This map gives information about many things
The distance between 56 thousand galaxies can be extracted from the CosmicFlow-4 map. Their collective distance can be determined. Along with this, the speed of their spread can also be detected. Brent Tully said that we created this map by analyzing the results drawn from several methods. There may be mistakes in it but it is the greatest map ever. Also the most accurate.
