In many areas of Delhi, parking has increased in cost. The 91 lots operated by private contractors around Connaught Place, Mandi House, and the surrounding districts now charge twice as much for parking, according to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). The hourly parking fee for four-wheelers has been raised to Rs 40 and will be in effect until January 31 of the next year.
At NDMC parking spaces,
4-wheelers were previously charged Rs 20 per hour with a daily cap of Rs 100. On the other hand, two-wheelers cost Rs. 10 per hour and Rs. 50 per day. The anti-pollution GRAP Stage II recommendations have been taken into consideration in this decision to increase parking fees.
In the South Zone of the municipal region,
38 parking lots run by NDMC’s staff had their fees doubled earlier in the month. INA, Yashwant Place, Chanakyapuri, Khan Market, Sarojini Nagar, and Dutta Path were among them. According to a notification posted on the NDMC website on November 28, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) and the Central Pollution Control Board had approved a statutory measure to increase parking fees to accommodate private transport, and the Graded Response Action Plan had been informed. There were directives given.
On November 13,
a public notice was released announcing higher fees at parking lots managed by NDMC. It is currently being used for lots run by Neptune India Limited as well. This directive will be in effect through January.
