Indian Railways Tatkal Ticket Booking: Indian Railways is going to change the rules regarding Tatkal ticket booking. In view of the continuous black marketing of Tatkal tickets, the Railways has decided to add Aadhaar verification in the booking process.

The central government is going to take strict steps to curb the black marketing of Tatkal railway tickets. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has informed in a tweet that Indian Railways will soon start the facility of e-Aadhaar verification for Tatkal ticket booking. So that genuine passengers will be able to use the facility of Tatkal ticket.

Ashwini Vaishnav said, Indian Railways will soon introduce e-Aadhaar verification for Tatkal ticket booking. This will make it easier for genuine passengers to get confirmed tickets at the time of need. The aim of this new system is to curb touts and give priority to genuine passengers.

IRCTC shuts down 2.5 crore fake user IDs

In order to curb the black marketing of Tatkal tickets, IRCTC has deactivated 2.5 crore fake user IDs. These IDs were being operated by people or agents who were violating the rules. Railway Ministry spokesperson Dilip Kumar told that the Railways has completely digitally modernised its ticket booking system. Now an artificial intelligence based anti-bot system has been installed on the website, which instantly identifies and blocks the bots doing fake and automatic booking. 

Only real users will be able to book Tatkal tickets

A spokesperson of the Ministry of Railways said that now only verified and real users will be able to avail the Tatkal ticket booking facility. Let us tell you that, Indian Railways had detected 2.9 lakh suspicious PNRs in the last 5 months.

These were general and Tatkal tickets, which were purchased within 5 minutes of the start of booking. According to railway officials, 2.5 crore fake user IDs have been closed from January to May 2025. Many of these accounts were linked to agents or software, which were taking advantage of the flaws in the system. Apart from this, 20 lakh user IDs have been kept for re-examination.

More than 6,800 disposable email domains blocked

A railway official said, 134 complaints have been registered on the National Cyber ​​Crime Portal and more than 6,800 disposable email domains have been blocked. Disposable email addressing means using a different email address for every contact or work. Or using it only a few times. Fraudsters are using these methods to book tickets and charge more money from gullible passengers. This campaign will be intensified further.
