The company is working on a new 5-door Force Gurkha which will compete with the Mahindra Thar. After the success of 3-door vehicles, Mahindra and Force Motors are now seeing possibilities in the 5-door model. The first of these two will be the Gorkha 5 door launch which is likely to happen this year, while the Thar 5 door may arrive in 2023-24.
Almost like a 3-door Gurkha in terms of design
It differs only in the third row and its long shape. It looks stronger than before, making it solid in terms of crash tests and pedestrian safety. The new grille has been given in the front part which is of single slat design, parts like round headlamps, fog lamps and LED DRLs, new bumpers, and sparkle intake have been given.
The dashboard will be of new design
The cabin is now likely to get 6 front-facing seats, apart from features like power windows, remote locking, and manual air conditioning in the new Gurkha. Its dashboard will be of a new design, on which the central console and touchscreen infotainment system will also be redesigned.
2.6-liter diesel engine sourced from Mercedes
The 2022 Force Gurkha will get the same 2.6-liter diesel engine that has been sourced from Mercedes as the three-door model. 4 by 4 capability and the manual differential lock can also be found here. The price of the new SUV is expected to be Rs 1 lakh more than the current model. Apart from the Thar, the new Gurkha is also going to compete with the 5-door Jimny in the Indian market.
