The nation’s central government oversees a number of programmes for the well-being of the populace. These have now been supplemented with another system. This year’s Vishwakarma Yojana was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself in honour of Independence Day. The nation has also launched the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana concurrently. With this, the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana’s training programme has been launched by the government.
The PM Vishwakarma Plan
The announcement of the start of training programmes under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship represents a significant step towards its implementation. This programme aims to empower craftspeople and artisans.
The National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) will host this course from November 6–10, 2023. 41 master trainers from ten states—Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh—will receive instruction during this five-day course.
Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana: What is it?
A programme called PM Vishwakarma was introduced by the federal government. This will help those who work with their hands and tools as artisans and craftsmen. This programme includes 18 different occupations for artisans and craftspeople.
Which companies are going to get involved?
Carvers (carpenters/handsmiths), boat builders, armour makers, blacksmiths, hammer and tool kit makers, locksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, sculptors (stone carvers), stone breakers, basket/mat/broom/coir weavers, traditional doll and toy makers, barbers, garland makers, washermen, tailors, and fishermen who work with nets.
What is the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana advantage?
- PM Vishwakarma’s ID card and certificate will be used to identify artisans and craftsmen.
At a cost of Rs 500 per day, basic training lasting five to seven days and advanced training lasting fifteen days or longer would be provided. - An e-voucher for a toolkit incentive worth up to Rs 15,000 will be awarded as part of basic skill training.
- A loan under the enterprise development loan programme may be granted up to Rs 3 lakh. This allows for the 18-month and 30-month terms of loans of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh, respectively.
- Five percent will be the set interest rate. The Government of India will additionally implement a relaxation of up to 8% in addition to this. On the other hand, recipients who have finished their basic training can apply for a Rs. 1 lakh initial instalment loan.
- There will be rewards for online transactions.
- Additional marketing assistance is offered.
