- Tier 1: The exam is computer-based. Candidates must respond to questions about general studies, math, reasoning, etc. at this point.
- Tier 2: In this computer-based test, candidates must respond to questions pertaining to particular disciplines.
- Tier 3: The candidate’s writing skills and subject knowledge are evaluated through a written exam.
- Tier 4: This is a data entry test that evaluates the candidate’s typing speed and data entry skills.
Based on the candidate’s performance in each of these four-tier exams, a final list is created. According to their rank, the candidates on this final list are appointed as Enforcement Directorate officers.
