The requirements to use WhatsApp’s app have been modified, which will have an impact on users with older smartphones. A rumor claims that 35 phones made by Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Sony, LG, and Apple will no longer be eligible to get security fixes or updates for WhatsApp. To improve and secure the software, this modification may require some users to switch phones to keep using WhatsApp.

Which smartphones won’t receive assistance?

An update made by WhatsApp will make it impossible for many older phones to use the app. Several popular phones are among them, such as the Moto G and Moto X from Motorola and some of the older Galaxy models from Samsung. Even a few reasonably recent smartphones, such as the iPhone SE and 6 from Apple will no longer support WhatsApp. Many phones from Huawei, Lenovo, Sony, and LG are also affected.

To provide users with the most recent security updates and new features,

WhatsApp has announced that it is altering the requirements needed to run its app. WhatsApp may now only be used on Android-powered phones (5.0 or higher) or iPhones running iOS 12 or later. This means that phones with older operating systems will no longer be able to receive the necessary updates, which will put their security at risk. If the technology in your phone is likewise outdated, you might consider getting a new one shortly. Using WhatsApp on an outdated phone will not only keep you from receiving new features, but it will also compromise the security of your calls, messages, and data. You can view the full list on the WhatsApp website and determine whether or not your phone is impacted. You should get ready to get a new phone shortly if yours is on that list.
