The state administration has announced that it will raise the dearness allowance (DA Hike) for public employees and reinstate the previous pension. 2.15 lakh employees and 1.90 lakh pensioners will benefit from the government’s announcement of a DA increase. For the government of Himachal employees and pensioners, the DA has been raised by 3%. Instead of the prior 31 percent, DA will now be available at 34 percent.

DA Hike – The government’s budget will bear the burden of 500 crores.

According to figures provided by the government, a 3% increase in the daily allowance will bring an additional 500 crores to the Himachal Pradesh government’s exchequer. In addition, CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced that starting in June 2023, 9,000 Spiti women above the age of 18 will get a monthly allowance of Rs. 1,500. Let us inform you that the government increases DA and DR twice a year. Government employees receive Dearness Allowance (DA), whereas retirees receive Dearness Relief (DR).

On the other side, the Himachal government has issued

a notification to reinstate the old pension scheme as of April 1, 2023, which will only benefit 1.36 lakh employees. 1.36 lakh state government employees will gain from this. The National Pension Scheme (NPS) will not require any deductions from these employees. A notification to adopt OPS has been issued by the state’s chief secretary. Let us remind you that Congress pledged to reinstate the old pension (OPS) during the assembly elections in 2022.
