Afghanistan and the Indian cricket team are presently engaged in a Twenty20 series. For the third and final Twenty20 match of the series, players from Afghanistan and India have arrived in Bengaluru. The famous Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) will be overshadowed by captain Rohit Sharma if the home team wins this game. He’ll become India’s skipper with the most Twenty20 victories.
Under Rohit’s leadership, victory was attained
The Indian T20 team is currently being captained by the outstanding opener Rohit Sharma. The Indian squad had a spectacular start to the new year. India has an unstoppable 2-0 lead against Afghanistan in their final series before the T20 World Cup. In this format, Rohit returned with style. He merged with the group Indian T20 team for the first time after September 2022 and defeated Afghanistan in both consecutive T20 matches.
One stride short of Dhoni’s record
Despite Rohit Sharma’s bat being silent in the T20 series against Afghanistan thus far, he still managed to tie the all-time great Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record. In the T20 format, Rohit Sharma is only one step behind the great Dhoni in breaking his record. Dhoni had previously led India in T20 victories, but Rohit Sharma had tied him after the second T20. As soon as Rohit Sharma wins the last Twenty20 of the series against Afghanistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, he will now take over for former captain Mahesh Bhagat. In T20 cricket, Rohit and Dhoni have so far amassed 41-41 victories as captains.
Is Rohit going to surpass Dhoni?
Throughout his international career, Rohit Sharma has led his team in 53 of 150 T20 games. In addition, Dhoni led Team India in 98 T20 international matches, winning 72 of them. In 41 of these games, Rohit and Dhoni captained and won 41–41. Now that Rohit Sharma has defeated Afghanistan in the third Twenty20 match, he will pass the legendary wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The captains with the most victories in the T20 format to date are England’s Eoin Morgan, Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan, and Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
