Delhi-NCR Pollution: In Delhi-NCR, people are gasping for clean air as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI). Remained in the low to the very poor range. Memes making fun of pollution have also appeared on social media as the air quality in Delhi and the surrounding areas continue to deteriorate. While angry locals vent their frustration on social media, some firms are using this platform to showcase their talent by creating humorous memes and one-liners. Food delivery app Zomato shared a humorous yet serious meme on Delhi’s air pollution.
Social media uproar over Zomato’s tweet
Zomato tweeted about the air pollution in Delhi-NCR in its way, which stunned people and drew harsh criticism. On November 7, Zomato apologized to Delhi-NCR residents after jokingly writing that those buying “chicken” will taste like smoked chicken owing to air pollution. Sorry Delhi-NCR, if your chicken gets delivered as smoked chicken, our chat support can’t help, Zomato remarked in a tweet with a crying emoji.
Participants reacted to the tweet in such a way.
With 815 retweets, the post has received over 12,000 likes thus far. While many individuals revealed their pollution-related issues, not everyone laughed at Zomato’s humor. Delhiites have changed from saying “fog chal raha hai” to “smog chal raha hai,” according to one user, who also said, “I don’t think it should be funny, it’s not right.” A third user said, “This joke of Zomato is not acceptable, because it is a very serious issue.” A fourth user said, “Zomato is coming to comedy, people are dying here.”
