Those who recall the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom in Ocean Green from 2019 are aware of the device’s capabilities and the attractiveness with which Oppo crafts its Reno family of smartphones. A MediaTek Dimensity 7050 CPU, a sizable 5,000mAh battery with support for proprietary fast charging, and a curved 6.7-inch panel with 120Hz refresh rate are all included in the Oppo Reno 10 series. Oppo is renowned for its innovative handset designs, but that has since taken a backseat. Recently, Oppo introduced the Reno 10 series in India in two colour variations: Silvery Grey and Ice Blue.
The Reno 10 5G in Ice Blue model that we purchased features a gradient finish that alters colour depending on the light. Even if this is not specific to the Oppo Reno 10, it is nevertheless a noteworthy feature that makes the phone attractive when held at various angles in a well-lit environment. The Reno 10 5G has 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage, with a starting price of Rs 32,999. Given the pricing, the Reno 10 5G may compete well with devices like the Motorola Edge 40 and the OnePlus Nord 3. In my review, the Oppo Reno 10 5G performed as follows.
Design, Display, Looks, and Build of the Oppo Reno 10 5G
The Reno 10 is a thin, stylish phone that replaces the Oppo Reno 8 5G from the previous year. It is the least expensive of the three siblings in the new Reno 10 series. Oppo deserves praise for maintaining a consistent design aesthetic throughout the Reno 10 series. It is challenging to distinguish between the cheaper Oppo Reno 10 Pro and the standard Reno 10, which both have glossy designs and a matte finish. Due to its matte appearance, which does not at all attract smudges and fingerprints, the former is clearly more attractive and feels nicer in the hands. This also implies that it is simple to maintain the Oppo Reno 10. However, because the phone has a glass sandwich construction, I do suggest using a rear cover.
However, the material used for the frame is what makes it so incredibly light. The device’s matte texture also gives it a gentle appearance that is pleasing to the eye. One might mistakenly believe that this is a flagship phone due to the curved sides and panel. The Reno 10 5G weighs about 185 grammes and is ergonomically designed for easy holding and carrying. Both the Reno 10’s design language and its rear panel, which features gradient colours that change depending on the light, are attractive.
Battery, performance, and software for the Oppo Reno 10 5G
Based on Android 13, ColorOS 13.1 is preinstalled on the Oppo Reno10 5G. Despite the fact that ColorOS has improved over time, it still includes some bloatware in the form of pre-installed apps like Moj, Josh, Dream11, and Snapchat, among others. You can now control Spotify and food delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy thanks to the clever new “Smart Always On Display” function. The phone’s competent MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset ensures smooth operation of all tasks. While carrying out routine tasks, there was no latency or stutter. However, some demanding jobs did cause the computer to lag. Comparing the Dimensity 7050 chip to Reno 8, which was run by a Dimensity 1300 SoC, is also a little disappointing.
The Reno 10 5G’s 5,000mAh battery capacity represents a major improvement over the Reno 8 from a year ago, which had a 4,500mAh battery. This also translates into longer battery life. With moderate use, I could use the phone for more than a day and a half on a single charge. If you use the phone heavily, however, the battery life will be shorter. The Always On Display (AOD) function is another element that may contribute to a shorter battery life.
For people who enjoy playing games and binge-watching television shows on OTT services, the larger battery can be useful. If you’re switching from Samsung, the phone comes with a 67W rapid charger that is extremely quick and sort of spoils. It’s amazing how quickly the charger charged the phone from zero to fifty percent.
Camera Oppo Reno10 5G
On paper, the rear camera combination of three sensors—a 64MP sensor, an 8 MP sensor, and a 32MP sensor—looks promising. Although the cameras are an improvement over the Reno model from the previous year, how do they perform in actual use? The primary camera performs well under ideal lighting conditions, however, it occasionally creates oversaturated photos. Better close-up photos were possible thanks to the Reno 10 5G’s 32MP telephoto sensor, which took the place of the Reno 8’s 2MP macro lens.
Images captured by both the telephoto and main sensors have somewhat cooler colour tones. A 32MP camera on the front side, identical to the Reno 8 5G from the previous year, takes very excellent, finely detailed pictures. It’s important to note how accurate the selfie photos’ colours are.
Final Verdict for Oppo Reno 10 5G
The new Reno 10 5G is a good phone all around, but considering its price range, it competes fiercely with devices like the Poco F5 and the OnePlus Nord 3, among others. The phone is a full unit with a strong battery and quick charging. The AMOLED display is clear and vivid, making it a terrific companion for binge-watching or social media surfing.
