IND Vs ENG: India has won the Test series three times so far on the soil of England. After 2007, India once again has a chance to win the series.

India’s tour of England: The last match of the five-Test series is going to start between India and England at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham from today. Currently, Team India is leading 2-1 in the series and they have a chance to create history after 15 years on English soil. Since 2007, Team India has failed to win a Test series in England.

But in this series which was very exciting, the hold of Team India is clearly visible. Team India led the series 2-1 the previous year, utterly putting England on the back foot. But the deciding match of the series got canceled due to Kovid 19 and now it is going to be organized after a year. Although exactly one year later, Team India has got a chance to repeat history.

India’s Test record on England soil in the last decade has been extremely poor. Team India visited England in 2011 for a four-test series. India’s performance on the tour of England under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni was very poor and they suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat. After this, India had to face a 3-1 defeat in the five-Test series in 2014. In 2018 also, the fortunes of Team India did not change and its share was defeated 4-1 in the five-match series.

India’s best chance

However, earlier in 2007, Team India won the series on England soil after 21 years. India has won the Test series in England thrice so far. In 1971, India defeated England 1–0 in a three-match series at home. After this, in 1986, India again defeated England 2–0 in a three-Test series. But India had to wait a long 21 years to win the next series and managed to win the three-match series 1-0.

India now has a chance to win the series on English soil under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah. This challenge won’t be simple for India, though, given the recent changes to the England lineup.
