Google just released the Wallet app in India for Android smartphone users. This free app functions on your phone similarly to a digital box. This is where you can store your tickets, loyalty cards, and, in certain cases, car keys. Be aware that the Google Wallet app released in India differs somewhat from the Google Wallet app available in other nations. You are unable to use bank cards or make direct payments in this. As before, you can make payments in India using Google Pay.

How do I get the Play Store download?

This app is available for download on the Google Play Store. If it’s not there, visit the Google website. You will be taken straight to the Play Store download page from there. Additionally, Google has said on its website that ‘Maybe not all features work in India right now, but we are trying to bring them in the coming months.’ Organizing your essential documents on your phone in one convenient location is simple with Google Wallet. Everything from your boarding cards for flights to the details of your reward programs can be kept in this.

Google WalletLet’s examine how to set it up:

– Get the Google Wallet app from the Google Play Store first.
– Open the app and follow the on-screen directions after it has finished downloading.
– When logging in for the first time, you will be prompted to add a credit or debit card. You can manually enter the information or use your camera to scan it.
– Your cards, tickets, and passes will show up in Google Wallet automatically if you already use Google Pay.
– To secure your phone, you can also establish a screen lock.

You will not be able to use Google Wallet if your phone is really old.

For June 10th, Google Wallet will stop functioning for devices running Wear OS 2. x or earlier, or Android 9 (Pie) or older. This move is in line with Google’s earlier one, which it made in August 2023 when it discontinued Play Service support for Android 4.4 KitKat. The constant release of new security features makes maintaining outdated systems more challenging. With this upgrade, users using Google Wallet to make contactless payments may be assured of a more secure environment. Devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and older were supported by Google Wallet (previously Google Pay). Users running Android Nougat (7.0, 7.1) and Oreo (8.0, 8.1) will be impacted by this update. Still, more than 86% of Android devices already run Android 9 or above, so many users will not face problems.
