The Modi cabinet took a decision on the dearness allowance and relief for Government employees as well as pensioners this Wednesday. But no formal announcement hasn’t yet been announced by the government regarding this. It is expected that PM Modi will make an announcement before Holi. The number of government workers has been requesting their rights under the Old Pension Scheme is increasing. In Karnataka, there was a State Government Employees Association (KSGEA) began an indefinite strike to protest their demands. Within just a few hours, the government granted an interim reprieve to the employees.
The necessary directions to the officials from the Finance Department
The Bommai government of Karnataka announced an increase in the basic salary by 17 percent and also provided temporary relief to people employed by the government. Additionally, the government also bowed to the demands of employees to restore their old pensions. A committee was formed to look into the demands by the administration to restore the old pension as soon as possible. The Bommai government, following a discussion with the leaders of the employees and the leaders of the employee union, issued necessary directives on this matter to the officials from the Finance Department.
The workers were able to call off their strike.
Workers had to suspend their strike after the basic salary of the workers was raised by 17 percent. The State’s Chief Minister Bommai declared that an order on this issue was expected to be issued in the near future. We can inform you that the pension of the previous generation system has been reinstated in other states that are governed by Congress. A committee will be formed under the direction of the Chief of Staff (Finance) to analyze the Old Pension Scheme implemented in these states. The committee will then submit its report after studying the various aspects.
A report about the pension scheme is expected within 2 months.
The decision was taken by Government, CS Shadakshari, president of the Employees’ Association, stated, “We express our gratitude to the government for this step.” The union has decided to stop the strike. All employees will be back at work. An update regarding the old pension scheme will be provided by the government in two months. Shadakshari stated that we’ve been requesting the implementation of the old pension system. The government has taken steps to meet the two demands made by us.

in the base salary of employees. The added cost of Rs 12,000 crore will be added to the state government. The government offices had been shut in the state. And employees were seen taking part in protests at the district and Tehsil headquarters.
