After this, India had to face a 3-1 defeat in the five-Test series in 2014. In 2018 also, the fortunes of Team India did not change and its share was defeated 4-1 in the five-match series.

However, earlier in 2007, Team India won the series on England soil after 21 years. India has won the Test series in England thrice so far. In 1971, India defeated England 1–0 in a three-match series at home. After this, in 1986, India again defeated England 2–0 in a three-Test series. But India had to wait a long 21 years to win the next series and managed to win the three-match series 1-0.
