Petrol Diesel Rate Today 23 May 2022: People have got some relief from the rising prices of petrol and diesel. Behind this is the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by the central government. On Saturday, May 21, the Modi government at the Center provided relief to the common man by lowering vehicle fuel prices (petrol-diesel). The government reduced petrol excise duty by Rs 8 and diesel excise duty by Rs 6. Following this, petrol has been reduced by Rs 9.50 and diesel by Rs 7 per liter.

Some states also announced to reduce in VAT
After this decision of the central government, some states have also reduced VAT on petrol and diesel. Out of this, VAT on petrol in Rajasthan has been reduced by Rs 2.48 per liter and VAT on diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter. Kerala reduced VAT after the Kerala government reduced excise duty. Here VAT was cut by Rs 2.41 on petrol and Rs 1.36 per liter on diesel.
